Stay · Bluestone Main Estate · Matakana Coast
The Main House is the original Bluestone home: Hamptons meets New Zealand, on a gated peninsula seven minutes from Matakana Village. Five ensuite bedrooms sleep twelve. The living room rises to a vaulted ceiling around a floor-to-ceiling fireplace of South Island bluestone, and bifold doors run the length of the house to the infinity pool, the Matakana estuary, and Mt Tamahunga beyond.

The residence
Mornings begin in the kitchen: a butler's pantry, a wine fridge, an Italian espresso machine, and bifold windows that open onto the outdoor table. The TV room has a gas fire and a chaise sofa deep enough to lose an afternoon in. There are sitting areas and fireplaces inside and out, and at the end of the day the industrial firepit above the water, when the season allows. Air conditioning and heating throughout, high-speed wifi, Apple TV, and a laundry.

Sleeping
Wake to native birdsong. Each bedroom has its own character and its own Moroccan-tiled ensuite, with plush towels, botanical amenities, and a hair dryer. The four ground-floor bedrooms open through French doors onto an east-facing deck, with Adirondack chairs for the morning sun and the bush at the edge of the lawn. Upstairs, the loft bunk room has a TV and a sofa: a place for children, teenagers, or grown-ups who want a corner of their own.
The grounds
The house sits into a gentle slope, with sweeping lawns and native bush on every side. Below it, hidden from view, a full-size astroturf tennis court with a basketball hoop. The yoga dome, for practice with a private teacher or breathwork and meditation on your own. The gym, fully equipped. The pool house games room, with a pool table, foosball, and darts. Eight e-bikes for the paths to the village or the beach, petanque on the lawn, a barbecue, and the infinity pool and spa. A helipad for arrivals by air. Bush walks rich with native birds, and if you are lucky, the tūī will sing.

No. Every booking is sole occupancy of your residence. Book a property on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole of it is yours too. The one exception is Bluestone Encampment, where the three residences share a pool, a playground, and a laundry when booked individually.
No, and the difference matters. There is no dining room, no timetable, and no other guests. You have the same standard of service a lodge offers, when you want it, and none of the sharing.
Yes. There are no other guests to disturb. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep at the table.
