The Boat House

The Boat House is the chic, rustic one: an open-plan living space with a pot-belly stove and a vintage industrial table, a queen bed in the loft, and a north-facing deck with water views to Mt Tamahunga. Its second bedroom is the Shepherd's Hut, a standalone room with a kauri vaulted ceiling a few steps away. Together they sleep four.

The residence

What staying at The Boat House is like

Coffee from your own espresso machine on the deck, the tide working the shoreline. The cedar hot tub after a day at Tāwharanui. The fire lit early, dinner off the BBQ, and the steel firepit under a great many stars.

Inside the Boat House at Bluestone Estate: the dining table laid with platters, wildflowers, and the pot-belly stove.

Questions

Will we share Bluestone Estate with other guests?

No. Every booking is sole occupancy of your residence. Book a property on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole of it is yours too. The one exception is Bluestone Encampment, where the three residences share a pool, a playground, and a laundry when booked individually.

Is Bluestone Estate a lodge?

No, and the difference matters. There is no dining room, no timetable, and no other guests. You have the same standard of service a lodge offers, when you want it, and none of the sharing.

Can children make noise and play freely?

Yes. There are no other guests to disturb. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep at the table.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. Ask about an earlier arrival or later departure and we will tell you what the calendar allows.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights. Five nights over 20 December to 5 January, and three nights on New Zealand public holiday weekends.
