Bluestone Estate

Questions

Asked before you have to.

Will we share Bluestone Estate with other guests?

No. Every booking is sole occupancy of your residence. Book a property on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole of it is yours too. The one exception is Bluestone Encampment, where the three residences share a pool, a playground, and a laundry when booked individually.

Is Bluestone Estate a lodge?

No, and the difference matters. There is no dining room, no timetable, and no other guests. You have the same standard of service a lodge offers, when you want it, and none of the sharing.

Can children make noise and play freely?

Yes. There are no other guests to disturb. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep at the table.

Do we have our own pool, dining, and chef?

Yes, exclusively, with one stated exception at Bluestone Encampment where the pool is shared between its three residences unless you book the Encampment on a Sole Occupancy basis.

Do we have to take the full service?

No. Choose fully self-catered, fully hosted, or anywhere between, for each stay or each day, and change your mind mid-stay.

Are any facilities shared at Bluestone Encampment?

Yes. Each residence at Bluestone Encampment (the Cabins, Safari Tent 1 and Safari Tent 2) has its own bathroom and its own kitchen or kitchenette. When booked individually, the swimming pool, the playground and the laundry are shared with the other Encampment guests. Book Bluestone Encampment on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole property and its facilities are yours alone.

Can I book just one residence, or do I have to take everything?

Either. All seven residences are bookable individually, and any property, or all three, may be booked on a Sole Occupancy basis.

How far is Bluestone Estate from Auckland?

60 to 75 minutes by car from Auckland city and the international airport, or 20 minutes by helicopter to the estate's helipad. Matakana Village is 7 minutes away and Te Arai Links 40.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. Ask about an earlier arrival or later departure and we will tell you what the calendar allows.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights. Five nights over 20 December to 5 January, and three nights on New Zealand public holiday weekends.

Can we hold a wedding or a large event?

Bluestone hosts small private gatherings at the Cookhouse, seating 12 to 18. Larger celebrations are considered case by case; please enquire and we will confirm in writing what is possible.

Can we bring our own nanny, chef or security?

Yes. Staff quarters are available on the Main Estate by arrangement for a guest's own nanny, security or private chef. Tell us when you book and we will have them ready.
