The Cabins

The Cabins are a pair of cedar-clad pods designed by Fearon Hay: one holds the kitchen, dining, and living space with an indoor fire, the other two bedrooms and a bathroom. An outdoor fireplace sits between them. They sleep four.

What staying at The Cabins is like

Breakfast at the pod's table with the doors open to the bush. The pool pavilion in the afternoon. The outdoor fire after dark, and kiwi calling from the trees.

At Bluestone Encampment, each residence at Bluestone Encampment (the Cabins, Safari Tent 1 and Safari Tent 2) has its own bathroom and its own kitchen or kitchenette. When booked individually, the swimming pool, the playground and the laundry are shared with the other Encampment guests. Book Bluestone Encampment on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole property and its facilities are yours alone.

Questions

Will we share Bluestone Estate with other guests?

No. Every booking is sole occupancy of your residence. Book a property on a Sole Occupancy basis and the whole of it is yours too. The one exception is Bluestone Encampment, where the three residences share a pool, a playground, and a laundry when booked individually.

Is Bluestone Estate a lodge?

No, and the difference matters. There is no dining room, no timetable, and no other guests. You have the same standard of service a lodge offers, when you want it, and none of the sharing.

Can children make noise and play freely?

Yes. There are no other guests to disturb. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep at the table.

What are check-in and check-out times?

Check-in from 3 pm, check-out by 11 am. Ask about an earlier arrival or later departure and we will tell you what the calendar allows.

What is the minimum stay?

Two nights. Five nights over 20 December to 5 January, and three nights on New Zealand public holiday weekends.
