Tāwharanui Peninsula · Matakana Coast · one hour north of Auckland
Bluestone Estate is a collection of luxury private residences on the Tāwharanui Peninsula, on the Matakana Coast, one hour north of Auckland, New Zealand. Set between rolling rural hills and the waters off the East Coast, Bluestone spans three neighbouring properties, Bluestone Main Estate, Bluestone Encampment and Bluestone Ridge, and seven residences that can be rented individually or combined: from a safari tent under the trees, to an intimate coastal hideaway for two, to Sole Occupancy of all three properties for forty guests, alongside the Cookhouse, our private dining room at the Farmhouse. Qualmark Gold accredited, Bluestone Estate hosts couples, families, and private groups who want the ease of true luxury with their feet in the grass or the sand: barefoot luxury, beautifully hosted, always.

See The FarmhouseThe privacy difference
Every residence is yours alone, and a whole property can be too. You will never share a dining room, a pool deck, or a lawn with strangers, because there are no other guests to share them with.
The estate runs on your clock. No seatings, no set breakfast hours, no host waiting for everyone to gather. Swim at midnight. Breakfast at eleven. The day takes the shape you give it.
Childhood at full volume. Kids run barefoot across the paddocks, cannonball into the pool, and fall asleep mid-sentence at the table, and there is nobody to disturb. Grandparents actually relax.
Service is a choice, never a condition. Self-catered, provisioned, tended daily, or fully curated with private chefs and concierge: choose your measure for every stay. Your hosts appear when wanted and vanish when not.
Private dining, never a dining room. A private chef cooks for your party alone, at the Cookhouse, the long table, or the outdoor fire, with a menu built around your people and the coast's growers and fishers.
Nobody to see you here. No lobby, no check-in desk, no other guests. Total discretion, one hour from Auckland's international gateway, arrival by road or helicopter.
Seclusion without the sacrifice. Complete seclusion on the Tāwharanui Peninsula, with the vineyards, beaches, golf links, and restaurants of the Matakana Coast minutes away, and Auckland an hour.
Signature Experiences
Three from the collection we love this season.

A chef cooks for your party alone, built around the coast's growers and fishers.

Forty minutes by road, ten by helicopter. Tee times and coaching arranged.
Lifted from the helipad to the water and back for lunch.

An evening walk in the open sanctuary with infrared torches.
Six galleries, three sculpture gardens, and a vineyard in Matakana, with lunch at Rothko.

Yoga, meditation, and massage in the dome or on the deck.

Matakana Village Farmers Market, seven minutes away. Go early.

A skippered boat across the Gulf to Governor Grey's Mansion House.

Boutique, family-owned vineyards, a sculpture trail, and a wine bar that pours only local.
Bespoke tours
Our exclusive touring partner builds a private day around your party: vineyards and cellar doors, makers and the Saturday market, parks and beaches, with a local guide who collects you at the door and handles everything in between.
Bespoke Tours with Terra & TideFrom the moment you arrive, the location feels special. Discreet and beautifully private, the property offers outstanding elevated views that make you feel as though you truly own the landscape. It's peaceful, secluded and quietly impressive: a place that invites you to slow down from the chaos of the outside world.
Qualmark Gold
Bluestone Estate holds Qualmark Gold, the highest accreditation of the official quality mark of New Zealand tourism. Gold is not awarded for luxury alone: it requires independently assessed excellence across guest experience, health and safety, environmental responsibility, cultural respect, and business practice, reviewed and re-earned every year.
